Beauty and the Butcher

"Hey beauty!" is one of the phrases you read on entering Panama's new burger joint. The restaurant sets out to delight its customers with bold architecture and hand-made burgers. In designing Beauty and the Butcher, elements and colours that carry energy were taken as the starting point, so that the food and the architecture together would electrify how customers feel. Burger joints had previously shared a common interior language; so every existing theory and traditional model was taken up, and the decision was made to do the opposite. The first move was to eliminate the traditional burger-bar colours — red, yellow, white, blue and green — and to take the risk of using pink, the essence of the brand. Inside the restaurant, respect for the historic fabric is evident throughout.
