Interior design for the second branch of Modas Vanidades, the oldest department store in Colón (trading since 1964), at Terrazas de Sabanitas. A clean, modern scheme in which every item on display holds the customer's full attention: a generous, welcoming store where shoppers move through department after department and find what they came for, and more. The ceiling design, worked out in continuous linear profiles, lays down good general light and gives the whole store an edge of crispness and elegance. Over that general layer, industrial track with adjustable fittings picks out certain crucial points, creating effects and set pieces in those areas. Elegant island displays finished in natural timber keep the large store feeling uncluttered. Finally, to add movement while holding on to the modern register of the branch, the architect introduced a play of light rings across the 1,076 m² floor.
